At Carzoos we love to stay informed as to the changes that are coming around the bend in the world of auto trends and also technology. Electric vehicles are always a fun place to start.

Talk of and attempts at creating electric vehicles is nothing new. History tells us that the first venture at an electric vehicle happened in the 1830s! In 1974, the Citicar was introduced and came in three models. Twenty years ago, Toyota unveiled the Prius which has evolved quite a bit over the years in both style and efficiency.

Fast forward to present day, and fantastic developments and advancements are happening in the world of electric cars. Volkswagen recently announced that by 2030 it will have an electric version of all 300 of their models. They are not the first to take this plunge. Mercedes Benz has promised a similar feat by 2022, and China is banning the sale of all combustion engine cars. Just a few days ago, GM and Ford announced that they too will be producing many new electric models in the near future.

Progress and advances are not just related specifically to vehicles. An exciting development our side of the world is witnessing the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, build the world’s biggest renewable battery in South Australia. And, just a few days ago Gizmodo reported that a new type of renewable energy has been discovered, in which power is harvested from evaporating water of all things! And it’s not just about renewable energy. Every day we learn more about AI, Self-Driving Cars, 3D printing and so much more.

While all of these developments are exciting, not all of us are financially equipped to sign up for the latest Chevrolet Bolt model, install solar panels all over our homes or afford the latest iPhone with facial recognition. However, we can benefit from and encourage modern technology, even if we don’t drive home the newest car in the car park. Forbes recently published an article on the perks of buying a used electric car. Excitingly, used electric cars are incredibly affordable and are usually in better conditions than their petrol-guzzling counterparts.
